xuvtools: [wishlist] add possibility to store thumbnails

Description

generating thumbnails can take a considerable amount of time on large datasets, so a possibility to store them together with the project would be really nice

Agreed! Having to re-generate thumbnails every time you load the same data set is annoying.

Also, if the user did not generate thumbnails, but just clicks "run", the stacks is going to be loaded. Now upon loading we could generate thumbnails 'on the fly', because in RAM it is very fast. That way, the user would get thumbnails always sooner or later. And, in the end, they are required to see if the stitching worked.

Added this functionality in revision r3142 - r3146.

Note: you still need to click "compute thumbnails" after opening a project. Then XuvTools? will try to load them from the project file, and if not available will generate the thumbnails.

TODO: It would be nice if the GUI would start thumbnail generation automatically, whenever a tile is added (or project opened). This makes of course more sense with a good memory management, because then stacks would be loaded only once.

This is just a confirmation, saving thumbnails works like a charm an really boosts the usability, especially on large projects!

Created a followup wishlist-report for the to-do issue: #109
